Three co-founders and three C-suite leaders — combining deep expertise in climate science, conservation finance, international law, software engineering, and carbon market operations. More than half the leadership team is based in the Global South.
Wanjiru spent 12 years in conservation finance at the African Development Bank and WWF before co-founding Teravent. She led the design of Kenya's national REDD+ strategy and has negotiated carbon market policy with governments across 14 African countries.
As CEO, Wanjiru sets the strategic direction of the registry and is the public face of Teravent's mission. She is a leading voice on carbon market integrity reform, regularly advising UNFCCC bodies, the ICVCM, and African governments on high-integrity carbon market frameworks.
She holds an MSc in Environmental Economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from INSEAD. She sits on the board of the Africa Carbon Markets Initiative and is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.

Dr. Asante is a climate scientist with a PhD from the University of Ghana and post-doctoral research at Oxford's Environmental Change Institute. He served on the IPCC AR5 technical support unit and has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers on African land-use carbon dynamics.
As Chief Science Officer, Kwame chairs Teravent's Science Advisory Board selection committee and is responsible for the scientific rigour of every methodology approved by the registry. He has refused several commercially attractive methodologies on scientific grounds — a decision the registry has never reversed.
His work on uncertainty quantification in tropical forest carbon inventories underpins Teravent's conservative discounting framework. He is currently a visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh's School of GeoSciences.
"The problem wasn't a lack of demand or projects. It was a lack of institutions willing to hold the line on scientific rigour — even when it was commercially inconvenient."
Priya brings 15 years of operational leadership from climate fintech and carbon market infrastructure. Most recently she was VP of Operations at a carbon market infrastructure firm where she oversaw the build-out of a real-time credit verification platform serving 40+ verification bodies.
As COO, Priya oversees Teravent's verification operations, technology platform, developer onboarding pipeline, and global partnerships. She is responsible for the systems that translate scientific standards into practical, scalable processes — ensuring that high integrity doesn't mean slow or inaccessible.
A mechanical engineer by training, she holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A). She is co-chair of the Carbon Market Working Group at the India Climate Collaborative.

Tomás leads Teravent's engineering and data platform. He was previously CTO at a Brazilian agri-tech startup where he built satellite-connected soil sensing infrastructure, and before that a senior engineer at Stripe, where he worked on financial infrastructure at scale.
At Teravent, Tomás built the registry ledger architecture and MRV data pipeline from scratch — a system designed from day one to be open-source, auditable, and resistant to manipulation. The architecture is now used by three other climate registries under an open-source licence.
He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of São Paulo (USP) and contributed to Teravent's founding article on registry architecture design, published in Nature Climate Change. He is based in Lagos where he leads Teravent's West Africa engineering team.

Aditya heads Teravent's buyer engagement, developer relations, and market development programmes. He spent eight years at a leading carbon exchange and advised on carbon procurement strategy for Fortune 500 companies across Asia-Pacific, structuring over $400M in voluntary carbon purchases.
At Teravent, Aditya leads the buyer integrity programme — ensuring that companies purchasing Teravent credits make credible climate claims consistent with VCMI and SBTi frameworks. He is also responsible for developer pipeline development and regional expansion in Southeast Asia and India.
He holds a BA in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi and an MPhil in Development Economics from Cambridge. He is a member of the VCMI Technical Expert Group.

Fatimah leads Teravent's legal, regulatory, and public policy work. She was previously a senior attorney at the UNFCCC Secretariat for seven years, where she was part of the team that developed the Article 6 guidance framework at COP26 and COP27.
She has advised governments of 11 developing countries on carbon market legislation and helped draft the first national carbon market regulations in three Sub-Saharan African jurisdictions. At Teravent, she oversees all governance policy, regulatory compliance, and Article 6 compatibility guidance for projects.
She holds an LLB from the University of Jordan and an LLM in International Environmental Law from Georgetown University. She is a contributing author on the IETA Legal and Policy working group and an adjunct lecturer at the Graduate Institute Geneva.
